We'll be shooting the Milky Way and other night-time scenes from the Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock.
We'll gather at 7:30pm at the Price Lake Dam overlook for a meet and greet, then shoot the sunset (8:42pm) and twilight scenes. When the Galactic Center appears at around 10:30pm, we'll capture it at the lake before moving to Linn Cove Viaduct and possibly other locations.
Recommended equipment includes a sturdy tripod, a wide angle lens, a remote trigger (camera self-timers are an option) and a red-light headlamp or flashlight (no white light devices, please!)
If you're new to Milky Way photography or want a refresher, you can view this presentation from noted night-sky photographer Silvana Della Camera from our recent meeting. Feel free to email the organizers with any questions. This will be a joint outing with the Foothills South Region.
