Coquina Rock Outcrop is the on naturally occurring rocky formation in North Carolina. It has been called the eighth wonder of North Carolina. The Rocks have been carved out into unusual shapes by the waves over time and are usually seen around low tides. Many of the flat rocks are covered with beautiful green sea moss and they make a great landscape with the sunrise over the horizon. For those who want something different, try the ghostly maritime forest of trees just south of the Rocks and tour down to Wildlife boat Ramp at the end of US 421 or hike the trail from the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area located on Loggerhead Road.
